I’m doing research trying to find information on my Grandfather who was on the H.F. Glade that sailed to Honolulu between March 26, 1898 and October 6, 1898. I have very little information on him.
I have a type-written manifest from Polishforums.com dated 2013 that has 6 pages of translated names from the H.F. Glade that left Bremerhaven May 21, 1898 and arrived October 6, 1898. On that manifest my Grandfather is listed on page 3. His name shows as “Klacz, Benedyck” age 19. That was probably some sort of transcription error or original error as I know his last name was “Klaczek”, later Americanized to “Kluski”.
I’m hoping someone has the original manifest or ship documents that would state where he was from. There are other “Klaczeks” on the same ship that I believe are relatives (possibly Mother and Father and siblings) that in other original documents show that they are all from Slobodka. What is confusing is that there are multiple “Slobodka’s” in Poland and I’m not sure which one is accurate.
Ultimately I’m trying to find a baptismal or birth certificate for my Grandfather that shows who his parents are so that I can validate and link potential family members to him.
