I am looking for details on the Borek family in Poland. Here is what I know.
Wladyslaw (Walter) Borek Sr. born in 1879 immigrated to the US in 1900 (record found on Ancestry is for the ship Rhynland from Antwerp, Belgium). On this ship record his last residence is listed as “Brzesina”)
On the marriage certificate for Waladyslaw (Walter) Borek his parents names are listed as: Wigciek Borek (likely mispelled) and Marianna Michlasks.
On ancestry somehow I got the place of birth as Czastkowice, Podkarpackie, Poland, but I am not sure if that is correct.
Here is what I heard from my family: The family in Poland was a family of 14 that lived on a horse farm. They were Roman Catholics. One day after the year 1900 (when Walter Borek immigrated to the US), the rest of his family was killed in a train crossing accident on their way to church. Their horse-drawn carriage was hit by a train. Only the youngest son, Felix, survived.
However, in the obituary in Syracuse NY for Walter Borek Sr. it says that he is survived by a sister and a brother in Poland, so I guess two family members survived the accident.
Here is the link to my ancestry family tree for reference to what I have found so far. https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/pt/RSVP.aspx?dat=MTA3MzA0MTQwOzswNDViNzZjMC0wMDA2LTAwMDAtMDAwMC0wMDAwMDAwMDAwMDA7MjAyMDA3MjQxMDA3MTA7MQ==&mac=GrGZFFE4PXzG5eWoBSQC2g==
I’d like to know more about the Borek family in Poland and know where exactly they lived in Poland. Also any details on the maternal line for Michlasks would be great.
I also have Polish ancestry on my grandmother’s side in the Tysco and Basydel lines. I received this message about the Basydel line —
Stanislawa Bazydlo was born in 1890 in a village called Koziol, located in Kolno RC Parish, Podlaskie, Poland. There is a scan available for her BR on genealodzy.pl – geneteka menu option. Her parents were named as Franciszek Bazydlo and Marianna Dajdowska (possibly incorrect and maybe should read Dawidowska).
