I am trying to locate the birth place and family of my husband’s grandfather, Casimir Guillaume Bratkowski.
He was a skilled charcutier and migrated to France after WW1, settling in Renay, Loir-et-Cher.
Casimir married Aimee-Louise Noury, a French woman, and they had one child – Guy Casimir Felix Bratkowski – in 1928.
During WW2, Casimir worked in Germany (as a charcutier). I’m not certain he was a German prisoner but suspect he was. After the war he returned to France, later moving to Biarritz, France, and died in the late 1950s/early 1960s.
His son, Guy, immigrated to Sydney, Australia, in the 1950s and worked as a cook and driver on the Snowy Mountain Project. Guy married Nicole Cognaud (born in France, 1927) in Sydney, Australia, in 1955. Guy later had a child with another woman and named him after his father – Casimir Bratkowski -, born 22/05/1979.
Guy died in Sydney, Australia in September 1988, aged 60.
Can you help?
