Could someone please help me or point me in the right direction? My grandmother’s maiden name was Kostka. She grew up in a community affluent with Polish people in central Wisconsin. My grandmother was born in Wisconsin in 1932.
My great-grandfather’s (my grandmother’s father) name was Bernard (Barney) Kostka who came to America from Poland via ship and ported in New York, USA. He searched for a plot of land that reminded him of his homeland and settled in Wisconsin.
We had our DNA ancestry conducted and found that we are 93% Polish. The other 8% is Swedish?? (no idea how that one slipped in).
My question is whether or not there is a possibility that we are in some way, shape or form related to the Patron Saint of Poland, Stanislaus Kostka. I don’t believe that the last name “Kostka” is a common name.
If someone can tell us where to begin, it would be greatly appreciated by me as well as my many relatives.
Thank you! Pam
