I am looking for my Prussian ancestors. The Dohnt family emigrated to South Australia with Pastor Kavels group in 1838 on the “Zebra”. They were members of the group that initially settled in Hahndorf, South Australia
The Dohnt family consisted of
– Gottfried DOHNT – Born 16 Jan 1796 Guhren, Zullichau, Brandenburg
– Anna Dorothea NEUMANN, Born 21 May 1792 in Zullichau, Brandenburg
Gottfried and Anna were married in Jan 1816 in Zullichau. When they emigrated they took their 7 children with them which include –
– Anna Dorothea, Born 2 Aug 1817 in Guhren, Johann Gottlieb born 29 Aug 1819 in Guhren, Johanne Louise born 2 Feb 1821 in Guhren, Johann Gottfried born 2 Jan 1825 in Guhren, Johann Christian born 27 Jul 1827 in Guhren, Johann George born 5 Aug 1830 in Guhren, Maria Elisabeth born 22 Jun 1834
I believe the town of Zullichau is now known as Sulechow and the town of Guhren is now known as (or was close to) Kije.
One of the children, Johann Gottfried married Eva Rosina LAUTERBACH (born 12 Dec 1829 in Langhermsdorf). Eva emigrated with her parents Gottfried and Eva Rosina (LAUTERBACH ?) on the “George Washington” in 1844. The LAUTERBACHs were from Langhersdorf (now known as Urzuty – a village in the administrative district of Gmina Nowogród Bobrzański,)

My initial request stated that the Dohnt children were all born in Guhren – this may not be correct. The passenger list of the Zebra states that, prior to emigration they had been residents of Guhren.
Gottfried Dohnt was apparently awarded a Waterloo Medal for service in the Prussian Army.
While the name we now use is “Dohnt” early records show other spellings such as “Dohnke” and “Donke”.
I am trying to find my Great Grand Parents Matt Goral and Francz Zalewski. My grandfather Jan Goral left Zakzrow, Russia. He left with family Jozef Grudzisu.
