My uncle fought in the Warsaw Uprising. He was only 16. He was taken prisoner and spent 8 months in Dachau. He was liberated by American soldiers and joined the American Army. He served with the American Army in Germany until 1947. He came to England (Portsmouth) from Germany in 1948 by ship. I would like to find out the name of the ship he traveled on and where he stayed in the UK – would it have been a refugee camp or an American Base?
