Hoyns Poland 1. Open

I was told that my grandfather Teodor Karolewski was born in a town called Hoyns Poland on May 15, 1877.  I have not been able to verify any town called Hoyns.  I would like to know if that town existed and what the name of the town is now.  and where i might go to gather additional info about my family history.
