Janina Lubanski (also Janina Lubanska, Jennie Perko) was my 2nd great-grandmother. Records say she was born in “Honziny, Poland” or “Umesk, Poland.” I have tried to search for these places online and in gazetteers, but I can’t find any mention of them anywhere besides the same records I have of her.
She was born on November 13th, 1891 (or 1890?) and married Joseph (Josef) Perko on January 24th, 1912. I believe they had 6 children together but the number could be higher. She emigrated to the United States from Bremen, Germany on December 15th, 1907 on the Breslau. She died on November 27th, 1984.
I am very thankful to have this information about her, but it is difficult to trace my ancestry further back without knowing where exactly she was born in Poland. I would be very, very grateful if anyone could offer suggestions or clues as to where “Honziny” or “Umesk” are.
