1852 John Stanislaus Kaleski arrived in Australia on the ship “Herder” He came with money and told people he was a Count.
He was apparently studying in Germany (Maybe Heidelberg University) when his parents told him they had lost everything and not to come home. Perhaps the 1848 uprisings.
1855 Naturalised as an Australian citizen. States he came from the “Grand Duchy Posen”.
1871 Married in Church of England. Did not list his parents names or occupation except “Gentleman”. No place given.
1889 dies in Australia. His wife lists his parents as Stanislaus Samuel and Dora on Death Certificate.
Family DNA results show some “European Jew” in subsequent generations. He did not practice Judaism in Australia. His family in Australia have always been protestant.
