My great grandfather Jozef Krukar was born in Rymanow in 1861 and immigrated to the United States in 1890. I have family records back into the 1700’s and some speculative records as far back as 1490. The earlier records show Krukars in Klimkowa and then move east to Rymanow. My question concerns the name Krukar–it doesn’t sound very Polish. I’d like to trace its origin. Poland has been invaded many times–were the Krukars a slavic group? Hunnish? Magyar? Teutonic?
