I’m looking to find more information about my great, great-grandparents, who were Jewish horse-farmers/saddlers in Ostrowo. Their names were Wolf or Velvel (father) and Sara (nee Skurnik; mother), and they had two sons (one of whom is Schie, my great-grandfather) and a daughter. My great-grandfather, named “Schie” originally but “Sam” when he immigrated to the US, came over to New York in 1911-ish when he was a teen and recorded his hometown as “Ostrowo, Russia” or “Ostrova, Russia”. Later on he recorded his home country as “Poland”, so my relatives and I are unsure which country he is from, as the borders shifted a lot during that time. There are also so many “Ostrowo” and “Ostrova”s in Poland/Russia.
If anyone is able to help me, that would be awesome. Ancestry.com isn’t super helpful with this, as it seems they’re lacking quite a few records from Russia/Poland. Thank you!
