My grandmother’s name is Maria Sen. She was born Dec 22, 1927 in what I think is a place called Sowaschki, Poland. I cannot find it anywhere in a google search though. I obtained this information from records I found with “Registration of Foreigners & German Persecutees, 1939-1947 on Ancestry.ca. My grandmother passed away in Edmonton, Canada Nov 27, 2016. She never told any family about her history as she didn’t want to talk about it. It was very difficult to get any information. My mother thinks my grandmother may have had sisters and that her dad’s name may have been George. We have found records of her at several DP camps in Germany between 1943-1949 but we do not know anything about her history before the war or leading up to the war. We are very interested in her father, mother and sisters and any information you may find. My mother was under the impression her grandfather (Maria’s father) came to Canada before she did to seek out working, leaving his wife and children behind. We are also under the impression the Maria came to Canada on her own, without her mother and sisters. We are unclear why. My grandmother married my grandfather Jan Joseph Filopowski in Edmonton Canada. They were both Polish but met in Canada not Poland. We do not have any historial information on him either except his birthdate is: July 28, 1924 and he was born in Kolaczyce, Jaskco, Poland. We do not know if he had brothers or sisters or his parents names. Jan Filopowski died in Edmonton, Canada June 26, 2015. He was in the military briefly during WWII.
