I’m researching how I am related to Pajakiewicz cousins here in the USA. In order to do that, I need to discover who my maternal grandfather is.
I was adopted, but I know my birth mother was Irena Pajakiewicz – born about 1937. Because paternity wasn’t established at my birth, I was given my mother’s maiden name – Pajakiewicz. My mother came to the USA in June 1958 arriving on the Batory, stopping in Canada on her way to New York. Her passport number was CA0077341.
My maternal grandmother was Anna Pajakiewicz nee Tyzaj. She was born 8 August 1911. But she died young – in 1943 due to pneumonia and complications from the war. She had three daughters with Pajakiewicz. Afterwards, Pajakiewicz remarried and had at least two children with his second wife. Pajakiewicz was born abt 1910.
My maternal great-grandmother was Anastasia Tysaj. (Maiden name unknown.) According to her application for USA naturalization, she was born 4 May 1988 in Poliuchiw Welyki, Austria. She was married to a Nicholas Tyzaj and had three children – Stefan, Jaroslaw, and Anna. For reasons I haven’t learned yet, she emigrated leaving her family behind.
On a 1931 ship manifest for the S.S. Bremen, Anastasia was returning from visiting her daughter Anna. The manifest stated that Anna was living in Alfredowska Paemuslany.
I would appreciate any help you could provide in identifying who my maternal grandfather – Pajakiewicz – was. And perhaps lead me in a direction that I could find out who his/my ancestors are.
