Looking for information on my grandfathers side.
My grandfather is Kazimierz smigielski however he changed his last name to orszanski after ww2 and immigrated to Australia.
I was told orszanski was his grandmothers surname possibly Olszewski. But from which side I am unsure, I presume his mothers side.
His fathers name was Antoni or Anthony smigielski and his.mothers name was Marianne lesczcenska or similar. They were both born approx 1890 to 1899,
My grandfather Kazimierz also had siblings. His brother Jan Adam smigielski stayed in the UK after ww2, was a fighter pilot in squadron 306 he was born in germany westprussen went on to have 2 children.
His other brother jozef stayed in poland after ww2 in which he did serve but am unsure where he is photographed wearing a polish army uniform (2 stripes) and married irena and I believe also had two children, last name is possibly szmiegielski. As his son married a girl name Anna who worked on polish cruuse liners in the 1980s/1990s, she wrote to my grandfather and signed off as Anna spmigielski with a P after the S.
A possibly cousin or nephew who has turned up is jurek, who had a son named andrzej woijech in 1961 and married jostling in gydinia,
I believe my grandfather also had a sister elzbeta who stayed in juowiowaw? She was there in 1958 but am unable to find any information on either Jozef or Elzbeta which further helps my search for my great grandparents.
I have Jurek last known address as gdyuice, du 21 03
I have some photographs with handwritten notes which i need some help with translation, but from what i have uncovered myself is the above information.
Ideally I would like to get in touch with any living relatives who may have more information relating to my great grandparents antoni smigielski and maryanna lesczczenska,
I was told that Antoni was killed during ww2 and Marianne may have been sent to, and was living in a ghetto in lodz, as I have an address for her in documents from my grandfather during his time of service.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated as I have somewhat hit a wall with researching them myself.
