Trying to find any information on my maternal great grandparents as there is no family history before them that we can find. Documents say they were from Novesoch, Austria. Knowing that there was a history of borders changing hands, my “guess” is that the “Novesoch Austria” they said they were from may have been Nowy Sacz, Poland. I remember hearing family say they were probably of Polish decent. This is all I know:
Mrs. Tillie Gawada Sulitz, possibly born April 9. 1882 in “Novesoch Austria.” Maiden names I have found for Tillie have been Taras and Gavada. I have also seen Tahla Sulitz listed as her name. Date of death: 13 JAN 1966 • Washington, Washington, Pennsylvania, USA. Earliest record found of her is a 1930 United Status Federal Census (as a widow). She had a sister, Tillie Tyris, who died December 07, 1965 in Washington, Pennsylvania, USA.
Mr. Ignas Jack Sulitz, possibly born March 7, 1881 in”Novesoch Austria.” Date of death June 3. 1920. He worked as a coal miner and died in a mine explosion. Other first names- Ygnatz, Ygnaci and Ignatz have been listed for Ignas. His parents listed on his death certificate were Fred Sulitz and Teodoxya Hielonka (could this be Zielonka?).
They owned a farm property in a community called Scenery Hill in North Bethlehem Township in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States.
Hoping to find some insight into if there is a chance they were indeed Polish and if so, can anything more be discovered.

Hi Amy, I have an Ancestry subscription, so I looked on Ancestry for you, and they had a lot of info. on her, but not so much in Europe.
Under Tillie Sulitz, she did have an Alien Registration # and an ARC identifier #, so she had a green card. I won’t give the numbers as that is personal info. It was issued on 7 Nov 1901. It also said that she came over
in 1900, and was 19. So that would be 1881-82.
And the 1930 census had her as coming over in 1900 also, parents as Austrian. I would check the ships that came over in 1900 on the LibertyEllisFoundation or however you want to do it.
Hope you find out more. I am also at a dead end with my grandparents, but I hope they can find more info.
on this website.
