I am researching my paternal grandfather’s family history. For a very long time we only knew the details of my great-grandparents, Stefan Szczerbanik and Anna nee. Dyriw. We knew information based off their 10 children (one of which being my grandfather) and their displaced persons immigration documentation. Off this documentation, we found the names of their parents. Stefan’s parents being Mikolaj Szczerbanik and Anna nee. Semyk. Anna’s parents being Wasyl Dyriw and Magda nee. Pancyta. After enlisting the assistance of a historical research to go through church documents in Poland, I was able to find the names of Mikolaj and Anna’s parents. Mikolaj’s being Jozef Szczerbanik and Agata nee. Bozybuk. Anna’s being Grzegorz Semyk and Fescia nee. Straszeska.
I also managed to get a record that shows Stefan’s sister being Rosalia and a potential brother named Gregor.I also have records of a Mary Szczerbanik who married a Frank Rakoska, however I cannot find the relation other than the last names. There is also immigration record for a Marya and Janas Szczerbanik who migrated to the US from Europe in 1905. Again, I cannot find the relation.
My whole life, I have been under the impression that the only family I have has come from Anna and Stefan. Surely there must be others out there… PLEASE HELP!
