My Great Grandfathers name as Ive found in records was Jan Solyian. He was born 22 Nov 1893. His U.S. naturalization record in 1919 says he was born in Russia, Poland. Ive also seen ones that say Poland, Russia and Trofimówka. He immigrated in 1912 as far as I can tell. Perhaps in May of that year. His U.S. marriage record says his fathers name is Vincent Solyian and His mother Rose Zamajtuk. I cannot find any information about his arrival in the U.S. The earliest info is his 1916 marriage record to Pauline Rydykowska. By the time of his death he dropped the ‘i’ in the last name and spelled it Solyan. One of his sons eventually dropped the ‘y’ and spelled it Solian. The surname is pronounced SO-LEE-IN. Any help where he may have originated or the actual spelling or correct surname would be appreciated.
